How To Plan Your Own Wedding

Are you getting married for the first time? Are you thinking of hiring a Wedding Planner? Why not save some money and plan your own wedding! People have been getting married for centuries without using a wedding planner. But the key to making sure your wedding is everything you want it to be is allowing yourself plenty of time to plan it. With that said this article is about giving you some information on how to plan your own wedding.

So your future husband proposed. You said YES and now you need to set the date and start planning. You will need to book the big ticket items at least a year in advance so keep that in mind when setting the date.

The Big Ticket Items are:
  1. Church or wherever you plan to have the ceremony.
  2. Reception Hall
  3. Caterer
  4. Photographer/Videographer
  5. Transportation (Limo, Horse Drawn Carriage, etc)
These wedding services and venues need to be booked ahead due to the fact that they are used for other events.

The next thing on your do to list is search for your other wedding services that you will need for your big day. These services include the following:
  • Florist (have some flower choices already in mind along with what your wedding colors will be)
  • Invitations
  • Decorations

  • Bridal Attire (your wedding dress, Bridesmaids/Maid or Matron of Honor dress, Groom and Groomsmen  tux and Flower Girl/ Ring Bearer)
Approximately two months before your wedding day you will want to consider where you want to register for your bridal gifts. You will want to think about the things that you will need to furnish your home the two of you will be sharing as you start you new life together as husband and wife. Some things you might want to consider are:
  • Flatware (pick something that you both like as you will be using it on a daily basis)
  • Dinnerware (again pick something that you both like as you will be using it on a daily basis)
  • Household items
  • Kitchen items
